Il brano

“Let It Be” è un brano di Paul McCartney.

Paul rivelò che l’ispirazione gli venne in sogno, dove sua madre, morta quando lui aveva 14 anni, gli consigliava di lasciar perdere (let it be) e non preoccuparsi del destino del gruppo.

John Lennon accolse la canzone con malcelato sarcasmo, poiché la considerava troppo “pseudo-religiosa”, infatti come si evince dalla sua frase in falsetto che sul disco precede la canzone a mo’ di scherno. Secondo alcuni, l’antipatia di Lennon per il brano sarebbe confermata proprio dalla collocazione della canzone sull’album, posta appena dopo l’irridente frase di Lennon: «And now we’d like to do “Hark The Angels Come”!» (“Ed ora vorremmo eseguire Udite! Gli angeli cantano!”), e subito prima dell’esecuzione di Maggie Mae, dedicata ad una prostituta di Liverpool.

Registrazione e accordi

“Let It Be”  è passata alla stgoria come uyno dei brani più venduti di sempre.

Esistono molte versioni dello stesos brano con diversi mixaggi..

La versione finale venne registrata il 31 gennaio 1969, come parte del progetto Get Back (l’album che successivamente diventerà Let It Be). McCartney suonava un pianoforte a coda Blüthner, Lennon il basso, Billy Preston l’organo, George Harrison la chitarra elettrica e Ringo Starr la batteria.[9] In questa seduta furono registrate due versioni della canzone. La prima, denominata 27-A, sarebbe servita come base per tutte le uscite ufficiali del brano. La seconda, la take 27-B, fu eseguita nel film Let It Be e contiene un assolo di chitarra differente da parte di George Harrison.
